Hope…

Just one word describes this post. Hope.

Hope that one day pancreatic cancer will be diagnosed early. Hope that less people would suffer the debilitating pain that manifests with the dis ease. Hope that thousands of lives will be saved…

In recent news, researchers from Japan announced that they have developed an accurate blood test for early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. According to the researchers from the Division of Chemotherapy and Clinical Research at the Tokyo National Cancer Center, certain proteins are found in abundance in the blood of pancreatic cancer patients only. The test would detect these proteins in individuals with early stages of cancer with more than 90% accuracy. Although not currently available, Tesshi Yamada, the head of the research division, suggested that the blood test may be utilized in hospitals within a few years.

A story like this gives me hope that one day we may be able to eradicate the deadly cancer entirely someday…
